The project of strengthen the role of the Union of Cooperatives for Savings and Credit in improving the livelihood of disadvantaged families

The project designed as part of the Start Up project at the end of 2016. The total budget estimated at €3 million. The project aims to finance loans to the Union of Cooperatives Associations for Savings and Credit, through of which loans are re-financed to members in the associations for establishing their own income-generating projects. These projects that aims to providing jobs opportunities for women entrepreneurs/ members at the associations under the umbrella of the Union with overall aim of improving the livelihood of their families, as well as reaching out to marginalized and disadvantaged groups,  and ultimately contributing to improving the economic and social situation. The project expected to ends at the end of 2023. From the results achieved until the end of 2019 are:

  • 70 small and micro projects have been established.
  • 900 jobs were created.
  • 2,395 direct beneficiaries benefited from the interventions
  • Within the first phase, loans were disbursed to 8 associations in the West Bank governorates out of 11 associations, the rest of associations will benefit in the next stage.
  • 90 per cent of beneficiaries from the project are women from the project
