The Minister Abu-Shahla Discusses with the representative of the United Nations Development Program the resumption of the youth employment project

Dr. Mamoun Abu-Shahla the Minister of Labor, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Palestinian Fund for Employment and Social Protection for workers with the representative of the Unitd Nations Development Program “UNDP” in Palestine Roberto Valent discussed during a meeting was held at the headquarter of the Ministry of Labor in Ramallah on Tuesday several of important issues of concern to PFESP and the resumption of the Youth Employment for Development Project in particular “ Sending of the Spirit of Hope “ which has been suspended for several months.

Abu-Shahla Stressed during the meeting which was attended by PFESP’s Executive Director Ibtisam Al-Husari, Jawdat Asteh the Finance Manager and by the “ UNDP “ Mr. Nasser Al-Faqih the Director of Anti-Poverty Programs on the need to resume the project “ Sending the Spirit of Hope “ which is being implemented in Gaza Strip and aims to employ about 2700 graduates.

Abu Shahla called on Roberto to assume his responsibilities and immediately resume the project because of its clear impact on the lives of many families in Gaza Strip.

On his part, Roberto promised to take practical steps on the ground during the soon coming period to resume the working on the project, expressing his understanding of the great risks arising from the suspension of the project, especially on the staff and the beneficiary group.

As Roberto pledged to support PFESP in mobilization Funds and providing the financial and technical support for the implementation for its programs.

Abu Shahla praised the great efforts exerted by UNDP to raise funds for the implementation of developmental and operational projects in Palestine, which have left positive effects on the lives of many Palestinian families.

As the two sides discussed the mutual cooperation in the future that ensures the implementation of joint projects that serve the Palestinian people, especially those who are looking for job opportunities and the unemployed.
