Minister Abu Shahla meets with representatives of graduates and discusses with them ways to enhance their conditions

The Minister of Labor, Chairman of PFESP, Dr. Mamoun Abu Shahla, met in his office at the seat of the Ministry in Gaza City, representatives of unemployed graduates. It was in the presence of Ministry staff, and he discussed with them ways to enhance the conditions of graduates in the Gaza Strip in general.

Abu Shahla reviewed to the graduates, who included a number of representatives of the youth movement to support the graduates and their defense committee, the difficult conditions the government have as a result of the Israeli blockade and the decline in international support This weakened the ability of the government and the private sector to employ and operate. Abu Shahla also criticized the academic system that annually pumps tens of thousands of graduates from specializations not required in the labor market. This led to a very large increase in the unemployment rate that exceeds the government's ability to address. He said that the number of unemployed in Palestine exceeded 400 thousand citizens, among them a large number of graduates. He warns that this number will exceed one million unemployed by 2030 if the issue is not addressed in all its aspects. Abu Shahla added that the task of the Ministry of Labor is not to provide job opportunities for graduates and the unemployed, but rather to create a healthy workers environment, which is what it is doing now. He advised young graduates to pay attention to vocational training and qualification and to learn technical and practical skills to increase their employment opportunity. Especially as government operational sectors and the private sector cannot absorb them. He also called them to turn out for the implementation of development projects after obtaining the necessary training. He indicates that there are strong opportunities for financing these projects by a number of banks and lending institutions through loans.
