Gaza: A delegation from the Press Syndicate discusses with the Chairman of PFESP the establishment of a vocational training center for journalists after their graduation
A delegation from the Press Syndicate headed by the Deputy Journalists Syndicate, Dr. Tahseen Al-Astal, discussed with the Minister of Labor, Chairman of PFESP, Dr. Mamoun Abu Shahla, several issues concern to journalists. The establishment of a vocational training center to train and enrich journalists after graduation is on top.
Yesterday, the two parties also discussed, during a meeting in the office of the Minister of Labor at the Ministry’s seat in Gaza City, ways to provide job opportunities for unemployed journalists graduates. In addition to addressing the problem of exploiting some media agencies for new journalists. Abu Shahla expressed his great enthusiasm for establishing the training center. He confirms the ministry's readiness to provide all necessary support in order to complete this project as soon as possible.
Abu Shahla instructed the Ministry’s officials to study and bring the project to light promptly after he called for the formation of a committee with the Press Syndicate to study the matter. He also instructed the Inspection Administration to immediately follow up on issues of exploitation of journalists by some media institutions, in cooperation with the Press Syndicate and put an end to this situation.
Abu Shahla said that graduates in the Gaza Strip urgently need vocational training centers to qualify them tailored to the needs of the market and global development in all disciplines. He indicated that the Ministry pays great attention to developing technical and vocational education and training. As for temporary employment projects, Abu Shahla stressed the need to change this culture for graduates and replace it with a culture of production through the establishment of income-generating projects in all fields. He indicates that there are many large projects that are implemented in this framework in cooperation with lending institutions and banks and through PFESP.
The Minister of Labor pointed out that the possibility to employ numbers of graduates in the Gaza Strip temporarily will increase in the achievement of reconciliation and the government was able to work freely and with full authority in the Gaza Strip.
For his part, Al-Astal reviewed the conditions of journalists in the Gaza Strip and ways to develop their profession and abilities in a way that is tailored to the global development. He indicated that the idea of establishing a training center for them comes to refine the skills of new graduates and raise their efficiency and dealing with events. Al-Astal affirmed that many new journalists were subjected to violations and extortion by media organizations.
